Sakamoto Squishy

Taro Sakamoto is the main character of Netflix Sakamoto Days. He was once the most feared hitman in Japan. Known for his speed, strength, and unmatched skill, Sakamoto could take down entire groups of enemies without breaking a sweat. People in the underworld respected him and feared him. But everything changed when Sakamoto fell in love. He left his old life behind to get married, raise a family, and start a family run small convenience store in a Japanese suburb.

Even though Sakamoto looks calm and harmless now—chubby, smiling, and always polite—he still has the sharp instincts of a killer. One clear example of this happens early in the series. A hitman comes to the store to kill him. Instead of using guns or knives, Sakamoto uses store items to defend himself, like plastic wrap, soda cans, and even a mop. He moves quickly, taking down the attacker without causing serious harm. The fight is funny, fast-paced, and clever. It shows how Sakamoto uses his old skills in a new way, without returning to killing.

Sakamoto’s story is about change, but also about balance. He still protects people and fights danger, but he does it without violence whenever he can. He’s a mix of strength and kindness, danger and peace. Watching him work through problems, whether it’s a dangerous assassin or a customer asking for help, makes him one of the most unique characters in anime.
